I'm very much hoping to get back to some sort of blogging duty over the next few weeks as my hours have been cut at work (boo!), due to my colleague returning after illness. On the plus side it means I don't have to go back to work until next Wednesday.
I was hoping to get some posting done today although a noisy neighbour put paid to all my activities today. To cut a long story short a new neighbours has moved in and been a nightmare! After having to listen to her stereo once again for two hours rattle the bloody walls in my house I called their letting agent today to complain and fair enough they said they would write to her. Anyway most of today and tonight I've had to listen to her mates (3 blokes and another woman) out in the garden. Now don't get me wrong nothing wrong with a bit of chitter chatter I hear you say, but how about when chitter chatter is loud, laughing, shouting and every other word is the f word. I was so naffed off tonight I wrote the following email to the agents:
Dear Sir/MadamI spoke to a lady at your office this morning with regards to your tenant and their anti social behaviour at the following address:Address was here.I was advised that you would write to your tenant (Gemma ?) regarding the matter. I would very much like you to confirm that this has been done. I would also like a more immediate form of action to be taken (phone call or visit from yourselves to the tenant). I assume at the time of signing a contract with the landlord, as a well established agent you would have also required the client to sign some kind of 'anti-social/noise' form whereby your tenant agrees not to cause a nuisance to their neighbours and other residents in the area.At 8.45pm this evening (16th June) I approached this tenant and asked for the noise in their garden to be kept down, and especially keep the foul language down (although this is the first time I raised the subject with her, it is not the first instant, and times have varied). I was wary of asking as there were others in the garden with her (another woman and 3 men), I also pointed out the noise from the stereo earlier that morning was not acceptable, I was polite when asking and explaining. As I returned to enter my house I heard one of the men say 'f**k off' which I guessed was pointed towards me. Of course my request fell on deaf ears and they were all still sat in the garden and the shouting, laughing and the language was absolutely appalling and would not be acceptable in many places or establishments. As a result I had to shut the windows in the house, which is not ideal as it's a warm evening. Our neighbour on the other adjoining side of the house even phoned at one point to find out if I could hear the language and to ask if I was ok etc. she even remarked that she was wary of putting her bin out and felt a little intimidated.Your tenant originally moved in on Sunday 7th June, and that evening from 7pm we endured constant stereo noise and an all night party. My father went round to the house at 11pm and requested politely the music be turned down, this did appear to happen but only for a short period of time when it seemed they had obviously moved the stereo to the kitchen. After a completely sleepless night, at 4.30am my father once again went round and asked for the stereo to be turned off unfortunately to no avail. The noise only stopped when someone dropped her children off in the morning (Monday 8th) at 8am. Not an ideal situation considering my father gets up for work at 6pm works a 10 hour day and has to drive for most of it. I also have to work and had to apologize to my colleagues for my 'tiredness'. As this was the first night we were prepared to give her the benefit of the doubt, however I do now believe from the response my father and I received that there is a total disregard of the residential situation. My main concerns are the stereo noise and the loud swearing, I believe from the sound heard the speakers are lying on our adjoining party wall, which obviously would make any noise ten times louder in the neighbouring property, however at the volume levels we have experienced this probably would not have mattered, the noise this morning (from 10am to 12.05pm) made the floor vibrate and physically shook ornaments and pictures on the wall and I assume it was turned up so loud that it could be heard whilst she and her mates were in the garden. The swearing/shouting also concerns me, for a number of reasons, one being that as a neighbour you cannot enjoy time in your own garden without having to listen to it, you cannot get away from it, I have 3 young nephews who my mother and myself look after at times during the week, and we do not want them to have to hear that kind of language whilst they are playing outside. I know that people swear, but this was excessive and loud. I should also point out that should any problems continues to arise I would be concerned for the health of my mother, who recently retired early due to illness, part of which recently has been extreme low blood pressure which is worsened by stress. My parents are away on a much needed break this week and would hope that this situation could be resolved before they return next Monday. You may wish to point out to your tenant that I have also been in touch with the Noise Nuisance office of Breckland Council's Environmental Health Department, who advised me of the appropriate course of action I can take, should the need arise. I did notice that on the 'Let your property section' of your website you advise landlords you will find 'Quality tenants' at present this doesn't seem to be the case, I have lived here for just over 35 years and both myself and my other neighbour at no.5 cannot recall ever having to complain about anyone on this part of the estate which before now has always been a pretty peaceful and friendly area. Many of the residents of ******, ****** and ******** which are in the vicinity of No.1 ******** are now past retirement age and some living alone and it could be possible that they would feel intimidated by this type of behaviour. The lady I spoke to today, who was very helpful, did advise that we should contact you should we experience further problems after the letter is sent, but after this evening's response from my polite request I thought I should email and ask for immediate action be taken.Although it will probably be obvious to your tenant where this complaint has come from, I would appreciate it if you would not give my name to anyone at this time.I hope that you are able to help in this matter, and look forward to hearing from you in due course.Thank you and regards,Louise HuntI was planning to do so much today but found myself getting so wound up I didn't do any of it! Just so you know I'm keeping a complete record of all incidents as advised by Council.
A small taste of my neighbour and friends, taken at 12.10pm 7.00pm and 8.15pm today, on a tiny Samsung camera which normally doesn't pick up much noise at all. Bottom one was taken from bathroom in case you're wondering!
It's just gone 1am here and they are still out there. Only reason I'm up is coz I just finished that email.
Bloody can't be arsed to even look for a feckin' job wasters! I'm sure if I described, to my brother, the little shit who thought he was big saying 'fuck off' to me earlier, he'd probably find his details on file down at the station, chances are he's had the pleasure of locking him up before now. He's one of those little dickheads that talk with a stupid accent Tim Westwood 'stylee', 'get what i'm sayin'. No surprise he's the loudest on the recordings.
What actually scares me is that, if nothing is sorted out I'll have to restrain myself from doing something stupid.
You know what?! I think if everything fails I'm going to download the album of brass band music I saw today on Napster(Carpenters tracks in Brass lol) and when I know she's just gone to bed (probably in the morning) and stick it on full volume maximum bass on both stereo and ipod for double effect. Then stick a note through the door saying something like 'You make my life hell, I'll make yours double hell, you decide'.
Actually before that when the noise is 'occuring' I'd probably get the Safer Neighbourhood PCSO's round.
Really must go to bed now...
Edit at 5.50am next morning, opened window only to hear the same noise as last night, really pee'd off will ring council ASAP this morning.
